CALLOUT: At around 11:30 this morning, the team was called by Dyfed Powys Police. Two people had been swept over Sgwd Isaf Clun-gwyn waterfall and were severely injured. By chance our colleagues from Brecon Mountain Rescue Team were attending an exercise on the river usk working with other blue light service. Once they had established this incident was not part of the multi agency exercise, they stopped the exercise and responded to our request for them to join us in the Ystradfelte gorge. The two casualties had been swept over the first cascade of the Sgwd Isaf Clun-gwyn waterfall. A fall of about 20-30 feet. The injuries presented to us were quite severe. Thankfully Helicopter 187 from Maritime and Coastguard Agency was on hand to demonstrate some outstanding flying skills, both were winched out from the base of the waterfall. Two others from the group were walked out to an awaiting ambulance suffering from the early stages of hypothermia. We wish both injured people a speedy recovery. A Four & half hour incident demonstrating fantastic collaboration at this multi-agency incident.
