Our Christmas Eve plans were altered at teatime when we were called out by Heddlu Dyfed Powys Police to rescue two walkers, one of whom had fallen and sustained a head injury in the waterfalls gorge area near Ystradfellte.
We arrived at the reported location and found no one there. A search was commenced with our colleagues from Brecon Mountain Rescue Team and Maritime and Coastguard Agency SAR helicopter from St Athan, while that was under way we received a message that the two walkers had made their way to the village of Pontneddfechan. A response vehicle was dispatched where treatment to the gentleman’s head was carried out for his onward journey to hospital.
We returned home to belatedly catch up with Christmas Eve late evening plans.
