Just before 8.00pm last night we were requested alongside Brecon Mountain Rescue Team to assist
Western Beacons Mountain Search and Rescue Team in the rescue of 2 walkers who’d become stuck on an icy section of gulley above the Llyn y Fan Fach lake in the western Brecon Beacons.
Helicopter support from Maritime and Coastguard Agency #StAthan airlifted team members to the summit of Bannau Sir Gaer where, in temperatures well below minus double-figures with windchill, a rope system was set up to access the walkers and raise them to the top. Very cold but otherwise unharmed, they were airlifted to the roadside.
